Brian Eno Calls On Support to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The single features a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The team running the initiative have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
