Fresh Information Come to Light Regarding the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged about the shocking deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Discovery
A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an session initially became concerned after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
Upon entering the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Furthermore pushed back against widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
