Slot Provides Zero Justifications and Pledges to Plot Route From Slump

Arne Slot stated he had to “examine my own performance” following the Reds suffered a 6th loss in seven Premier League games on their own turf against Forest and affirmed he would find a way out of the title holders' slump.

Forest, in the relegation zone before kick off, produced the largest victory at Liverpool's stadium in their club records as Liverpool fell to an 8th loss in eleven fixtures in all competitions. The British record signing, the Swedish striker, was once more unnoticeable and the home side argued the defender's first goal should have been disallowed for comparable grounds to the captain's disallowed effort against Manchester City prior to the international break. But Slot admitted the responsibility rested with him and made no excuses.

“No one wants to listen to me now talking about refereeing decisions if you lose 3-0 in your own stadium to Forest,” stated the Liverpool head coach. “I should examine myself first and my team, but it does show you how a goal can change the flow of a game. Earlier I was just hoping for us to net a strike. Later we hardly created any chances.

“Naturally there is a way out, particularly with the talented footballers we have. No matter if you triumph or lose when you reflect you are always thinking: ‘Where can we improve, in what aspects can we adjust?’ but that is something else from questioning yourself.

“I wish to emphasise I am responsible for the present losses. You are answerable when you are winning but also responsible when you are losing. I can never come up with sufficient reasons for us to have the results we have. That is not acceptable and I am responsible for that.”

The team's performance fell apart as the coach introduced multiple offensive substitutions when chasing the match. “It was the same on the road at Nottingham Forest last season,” he remarked. “I took the French defender off and brought on the Portuguese forward and he scored straight away to make it 1-1. At that time it was brave, now it’s probably unwise.”

The Anfield side last lost back-to-back at Anfield league games by Nottingham Forest in the sixties. The most recent occasion they lost back-to-back top-flight games by a three-goal scoreline was in 1965.

Slot commented: “It was extremely poor. Competing at home, losing 3-0 no matter which team you encounter is a terrible outcome. Unexpected if you look at the opening 30 minutes of the game. I haven’t seen us creating so much in the initial 30 minutes maybe the entire season, and the initial occasion they entered in our box they scored.

“It did not happen at City, but in all other fixture we have been the dominant team and were capable to create opportunities. Lately it is nearly constantly that we miss our opportunities and the attempts we allow find the net.”
