Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Stance After Voicing Contentious Coronavirus Film
The "Taken" star has provided his vocal talents to a recent film that challenges the efficacy of vaccinations and praises ex- health official the political figure.
The Feature's Provocative Origins
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is based on a well-known publication written by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was a result of a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
Her collaborator, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with controversial media personality the Infowars host. He recently posted hailing Neeson's involvement in the film.
A Firm Denial
Representatives for Neeson have released a comment firmly refuting implications that he holds anti-vax views.
"Many acknowledge that unethical practices might be present within the medical sector, but that cannot be confused with rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson is not, and remains not, against vaccines. His long work with the UN children's agency underscores his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The response added that the star had no hand in the film's narrative and that inquiries about its assertions should be directed to the creators.
Major Assertions Within the Film
In the film, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several strong claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have called for "unconditional submission" to government bodies.
- It posits that "research has become deeply politicised."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they are not adequately tested."
- The film further attacks stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Controversy and Recent Disputes
The film includes a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was later the topic of a BBC apology by the network for editorial breaches.
Last month, Kennedy instructed the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism. This claim is echoed in the documentary, despite a fresh analysis from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Record of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly expressed strong support for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible triumph," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This isn't the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the beginning of a new chapter."
